Amount of Award: $2,000
This fellowship is named in memory of Sara Douglas, professor at the University of Illinois. Dr. Douglas’ research and teaching interests dealt with international trade in textile and apparel. Sara Douglas served ITAA in many capacities, including President in 2002/2003. Her colleagues, family, and friends have generously contributed to this award.
This faculty fellowship is intended to support a project that will develop international linkages and collaborative cross-cultural research and/or teaching in textiles and apparel. For example, this award could support visiting scholars or travel to work on specific collaborative projects. This award may NOT be used to support travel to international meetings. Criteria for selection includes:
- Applicant must be an ITAA member. If program is submitting, the program must have at least one ITAA member as contact amongst its faculty;
- Proposal is limited to two pages;
- Application must include letter of administrative support from the institution(s) involved;
- Results must be shared with the ITAA membership through paper, presentation, or ITAA Newsletter article; and
- At least one recipient must be present to receive the award at the annual meeting.
Application Procedure
PDF files of the following should be attached and sent by April 15 to facultyawards@itaaonline.org
- A Faculty Award Application Form.
- Letters of administrator support from institution(s) involved.
- A two-page maximum statement outlining the project, including (1) list of individuals/programs/institutions/addresses/phone numbers/email of each person involved in project; (2) objectives; (3) plan of work with timeline; (4) how funds will be used; (5) intended outcomes; and (6) how results will be shared (paper, presentation, newsletter article.
- All projects involving human subjects must submit evidence of approval and authorization of an Institutional Review Board approval for the protection of human subjects. Documentation is not required with the application, but must be submitted before the project phase is initiated.
