Preparing and Delivering Your PechaKucha Presentation at the 2025 ITAA Annual Conference

The PechaKucha format is a fast-paced and engaging style of presentation designed to efficiently communicate research, concepts, and creative work. Please follow the instructions below to prepare and deliver your PechaKucha presentation at the 2025 International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Annual Conference.

Presentation Format

  • 20 slides total
  • Each slide displays for 20 seconds, advanced within the system
  • Total presentation time: 6 minutes and 40 seconds
  • Slides advance automatically—you do not control slide timing
  • There will be 8 presenters in each session, leaving 15 minutes for Q&A at the end of the entire session.
  • This format challenges presenters to be concise, visually compelling, and focused in their storytelling.

Preparing Your Slides

Structure Thoughtfully

  • Organize your content to fit within the time constraints.
  • Focus on one key idea per slide.
  • Avoid overcrowding slides with text—use keywords or short phrases.
  • Incorporate strong visuals that support and enhance your spoken message.

Design for Impact

  • Use high-resolution images, graphs, or illustrations.
  • Ensure text is large and legible.
  • Choose color schemes that enhance readability.
  • Avoid animations or transitions (they are not compatible with the PechaKucha delivery format).

Time Your Narration

  • Each slide lasts exactly 20 seconds, so practice syncing your speech with the slide transitions.
  • Keep a steady pace—avoid cramming or rushing.

Use the Template Provided

  • A standardized PechaKucha slide template will be available for download on the ITAA conference website.
  • Use this template to ensure consistent timing and formatting.

Submitting Your Presentation

  • You will receive a link with upload instructions and deadlines via email from the conference organizers and the Session Presider.
  • Submit your final PowerPoint file no later than Monday, November 3, 2025.
  • Once submitted, no edits can be made, so review carefully before uploading.

Day of Presentation

  • Arrive at your assigned room prior to the start of the session.
  • Bring a backup copy of your presentation on a USB drive, just in case.  But the Session Presider should have everything ready.
  • Presenters will be introduced at the start of the session. You will speak in the order listed in the program.
  • You will stand at a podium or designated space while your slides run automatically.

During the Presentation

  • Speak clearly and confidently—there is no pause or rewind.
  • Engage your audience with a compelling narrative and tone.
  • Keep eye contact as much as possible—avoid reading directly from notes.

Q&A

  • A brief Q&A session will follow after all PechaKucha presenters in your session have finished.
  • Be prepared to address questions about your research or project concisely.

If you have any questions or require technical support, contact the ITAA Annual Conference team.

We look forward to your dynamic and innovative presentation!
